The FTSE 100 drifted higher on Friday as traders pared bets on a faster pace of rate cuts and rotated into industrial shares that had lagged for most of the quarter.

The index was up 0.3% by mid-afternoon. Yields on 10-year gilts held near 4.2%. The pound was steady against the dollar and the euro.

Banks lagged, extending a week of losses tied to margin concerns.
